Wikipedia:Requests for page protection
![]() | This page has an administrative backlog that requires the attention of willing administrators. Please replace this notice with {{no admin backlog}} when the backlog is cleared. |
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here |

Current requests for increase in protection level
Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Reason: Unconstructive edits and reverts from user with recently created account and apparent political biases. User has autoconfirmed account, so semi-protection is requested mostly as a preventative measure in case it requires escalation to full protection Jesterr35 (talk) 05:40, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. Skitash (talk) 06:07, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Long-term disruptions and addition of unsourced content to BLP. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 06:30, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Reason: High level vandalism and disruptive editing repeated, New user disruptive editing, Unexplained content removal (UCR) Spworld2 (talk) 07:50, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – A lot of vandalism by various IP and registered rd users. Squawk7700 (talk) 08:23, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite extended-confirmed protection: Community sanctions enforcement. WP:RUSUKR -Lemonaka 09:19, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Reason: High level of vandalism from IP and new accounts MaxwellMolecule (talk) 09:54, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
- +1 Relentless vandalism. Need an admin on this ASAP. Entranced98 (talk) 10:52, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Repeated addition of nonsense edits; see page history for details. Blake Gripling (talk) 10:20, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Entranced98 (talk) 10:27, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Repeated disruptive edits by an anonymous user, changing the "Result" section from "Ottoman Victory" to "Pashalik of Iraq" without providing reliable sources. Despite multiple reversions and warnings, the user continues to alter the content. The edits appear to be nationalistic and not based on historical evidence. Requesting semi-protection to prevent further edit wars and maintain accuracy. BEFOR01 (talk) 10:58, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Reason: The article says that Turabi was Greek, but the sources given say that he was Turkish, so there is vandalism, I want this page to be protected forever LGT55 (talk) 11:21, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Reason: WP:ARBECR + persistent disruptive editing. Skitash (talk) 11:46, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Entranced98 (talk) 12:11, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – Relevant to WP:ARBPIA sanctions, should be ECP. Thanks in advance. Smallangryplanet (talk) 12:52, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Reason: A large number of drive-by edits that want to try and sever ties between this concept and neo-fascism. Suspicion of WP:MEAT / off-wiki canvassing. Simonm223 (talk) 13:17, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent removal of the lead from IP addresses being replaced with BLP violations. More or less vandalism imo. CNC (talk) 14:00, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Note: most of the lead has again been blanked again,[1], previous reverted edits were BLP violations based on adding "He's a Nazi" unsourced multiple times so were also reverted.[2][3][4][5] Edit: + nonsense short description now added,[6] will save my three reverts for more important reverting though. Looks like there is some coordinated vandalism occuring, as today there have also been three different IPs involved in blanking of lead section, and disruption has otherwise been relatively low until now. CNC (talk) 17:00, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
- Why just blank the lead when you can blank the entire page and call Musk a Nazi.[7][8] CNC (talk) 18:21, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
- And another vandal just arrived.[9][10] CNC (talk) 18:47, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Favonian (talk) 18:55, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Almost every edit has been vandalism so far. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 14:25, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. Someone who's wrong on the internet (talk) 15:02, 12 February 2025 (UTC)

Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. Someone who's wrong on the internet (talk) 15:14, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Reason: This talk page has been protected multiple times [11][12][13][14] due to repeated IP vandalism, which has now resumed. Media Mender 📬✍🏻 15:22, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent IP posting unsourced claims of songwriting. - FlightTime (open channel) 15:30, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: IP edit warring in violation of WP:ARBECR. Loafiewa (talk) 15:31, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing from multiple IPs. Annh07 (talk) 16:44, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 17:14, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Recent very high level of controversial editing, edit warring, lack of talk page discussions. Began around the end of January. Mostly involving IPs. Request Semi-protection and/or Pending changes protection. Topics on this page are some of the most controversial on Wikipedia: Middle East, Nazis, Russians, Chinese, Fascists, Communists, etc.. the page has had nearly continuous controversial editing, particularly by IPs, since creation. GreenC 17:16, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Reason: I don't want people editing my user page. Br meast (talk) 18:07, 12 February 2025 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Disgusting, sexually-targeted vandalism by anonymous editor(s). livelikemusic (TALK!) 18:40, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 19:06, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Current requests for reduction in protection level
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Reason: By restricting even the talk page, 'm concerned you're adding to the terrible damage that has already been done to Wikipedia by bolstering the myriad claims of its left wing bias. Other name changes of geographical locations haven't typically faced this level of scrutiny. Chancet (talk) 10:17, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Not unprotected – Please use an edit request to request specific changes to be made to the protected page. Ponyobons mots 15:31, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Current requests for edits to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
